We’ve lived not too far down Montrose from BienMeSabe Venezuelan Cafe and cannot believe this is our first visit! My husband is a bit more timid when it comes to new dining experiences so I did what I could to experience their menu. I started with the tostones y también tequenos, which we shared and they were delicious!! My husband ordered the pumpkin sopa. I tasted it and all the flavors of the soup just jumped off my tongue. Por supuesto, I had to order an arepa. So I ordered the caraquena arepa. It was incredible and huge!! I had two cups of their delicious chocolate toddy..I shared the second one with the hubby who is a chocoholic and he absolutely loved it! I highly recommend this place. The food, atmosphere and staff were amazing. When you go ask to be seated in Sara’s section-she was more than an A+!!! All in all, we will be back for their Wed arepa night. You simply cannot miss if you decide to dine here. If there were five more stars to give they certainly deserve them!! Sheilah, Irving Park
Great experience! At a moment when I genuinely needed help, the staff didn’t stay indifferent and responded with real human kindness. Polite attitude, willingness to help, and simple understanding — this is exactly what good service should be. It’s really appreciated when you’re treated with respect rather than just formally. Thank you for the help — you left a very positive impression. Definitely recommend this place.
I had such a lovely experience at this Venezuelan restaurant! Our server, Sarai, was incredible — so kind and attentive. My husband tried a cachapa for the first time and absolutely fell in love with it (and with Venezuela a little more ). Thank you for making me feel at home. Of course, I’ll be coming back!
Sarai G and Christian were amazing! What a breath of fresh air! Thank you for being so attentive your attitude made our experience extremely enjoyable. & The food was delicious!
I had a really comforting experience at BienMeSabe. The space is cozy and colorful, with a relaxed, family-run vibe that instantly makes you feel welcome. I ordered a couple of arepas and they were fresh, warm, and generously stuffed — the shredded beef was juicy and well-seasoned, and the cheese had that perfect salty balance. The pabellón criollo tasted homemade, with tender meat, sweet plantains, and flavorful black beans that all came together beautifully. Service was friendly and patient, especially if you’re new to Venezuelan food and need recommendations. Prices are reasonable for the portion sizes. Overall, it’s a great spot in Chicago when you’re craving authentic Venezuelan comfort food without any fuss.
Tasty and unique food packed with new-to-us flavors. We dined in with great service by two personable young servers. This was a third visit by our newly married children - couple and I’m sure we will also be back soon!
The food was very delicious. We got two arepas the relleno brunch special, plantains with cheese and fries with sauce. The food was very delicious no complaints. We got to do the outdoor seating and it was a very good environment.
This place is nice. I’ve been coming here for many years. Service is always good for the most part. I will always like this spot and the lunch specials are a good deal. Is it the best arepa in Chicago? No. Is it really good, yes! Keep up the good work.
